Girl Missing Sophie Mckenzie #GirlMissing10

As you all know by now, and if you don't now you do: I did my undergraduate degree in English lit, and will be doing my Masters in it come August. So when Simon & Schuster contacted me about reviewing a Young Adult novel, I was super excited and jumped at the idea! 'Girl, Missing'*, the first novel by Sophie Mckenzie turns 10 this year - and it has now been re-released to celebrate this milestone. I'm going to do my best to leave any spoilers out of this post, too!

Now hopefully by now you know me, and know that I wouldn't mention anything on my blog that I don't love - and this book is no exception. Girl, Missing is a great young adult novel - and if you are into this genre I would one hundred percent recommend this! It deals with themes like: difficult relationships with parents, kidnapping and adoption... All tied into a whirlwind plot, which I felt lent to me being able to finish this book in two days (it would have been one day, but a girls gotta sleep!).

Having recently completed a unit on Detective fiction at university, it is refreshing to then see some of these themes and literary techniques replicated in a young adult thriller/mystery novel. Though the plot sometimes to me seemed predictable, it was gripping and kept me excited the whole way through! I found out this morning that there is actually a sequel to this: Sister, Missing, which I will definitely be getting my hands on in the near future! You can purchase this snazzy tenth edition copy of Girl, Missing HERE

Have you read this book before, what did you think about it?
