FOOD FOR UNDER A TENNER: PRAWN STIR FRY

18:09

As a student, I thought that this would be a good little series that I should (hopefully) be able to carry on over the course of a few weeks! Budgeting is a huge part of my life, even though I constantly find myself within my overdraft - god damn you student loan company. Student diets are perceived as unhealthy and mainly pizza-based. This prawn stir fry is one of the many cheap and easy recipes I've lived off during my undergraduate degree, it's super yummy and as easy as chips! (No chips were harmed in the making of this stir fry).
Like I said, it's super simple and costs £6-9 to make, with all my main ingredients coming from the co-op across the road! I was making this meal with three servings for myself, my mum and my dad.

The sauces, oil and black pepper are all courtesy of my mums condiment cupboard! First things first, you're going to have to grab yourself (for a three person serving):
  • 2 packets of king prawns
  • 2 Chinese stir fry salad packs (I'm a student who had a dissertation to write, I ain't got no time to prepare salad!)
  • Sunflower oil (or equiv)
  • Black pepper
  • Soy sauce
  • Sweet chilli sauce (optional)

I told you this was super simple, packet salad and everything! First up start off by frying your prawns off in a heated pan.

Step two, add salad!! Add as much or as little as you would like. I know a lot of people tend to have stir fry with noodles - but I don't really like them with mine - so I added a lot of salad to make it a bit more substantial.

Step three -  SEASON!! I love seasoning my food. I used a tiny little bit of soy sauce, a fair amount of black pepper and a LOT of sweet chilli sauce. God, I love this stuff - in mu opinion the spicier the better! Finally, serve it up into bowls and dig in. I added some more sweet chilli sauce over my serving, because I'm a sweet chilli fiend. But this is totally optional! I hope you all like this super easy, super quick recipe and my first food post! Hopefully more will follow soon.

Have any of you guys got any good, cheap, fast recipes? I'd love for you to share them with me!
